Reading the Akron Beacon-Journal’s editorial cartoonist Chuck Ayers, the 12-year-old me decided that’s what I wanted to do if I ever grew up. I chased that dream into New Jersey and well into my adulthood (even if I didn’t grow up). My work was published in The Courier-News, The Star-Ledger and a small startup website, newjerseynewsroom.com, over a span of 26 years.
I took a hiatus from drawing editorial cartoons for seven years. Until, that is, Donald J. Trump was elected the 45th president. To avoid suffering an aneurysm, I started drawing them for my own enjoyment.
